The kids broke up from school today. This week has been hectic for a number of reasons, primarily school related. Assemblies to attend and weird pick up times.
I took the kids down to Lake Windermere to feed the ducks (and swans, geese, pigeons, doves, etc…) How the kids don’t develop a complex aka ‘The Birds’ is beyond me, especially as some of those Swans are about the same size as them!
Anyway, to cut a long story short I’ve accomplished four small things today:
- I’ve installed a 50-pin SCSI hard disk in the Sun Ultra 5. However, before I install Solaris 9 I’m going to see if the Ultra 5 will boot off the other SCSI card that I got which supports 68 pin drives.
- I installed another 128 MB of RAM in the Indigo 2, taking it to a show stopping 256 MB. A doubling of capacity! This memory was acquired for the price of shipping from the same guy that I bought the replacement graphics card off, so I’m pretty chuffed to be able to make such good use of it.
- I posted my hardware info to Nekochan. Any discerning SGI owner should be an avid supporter of all things Nekochan, it’s where the cool kids hang out.
- I used the ‘Envelope’ facility of WordPerfect to print an address label. I know, staggering stuff…
